Plugin Description
We can generate screen shots for your missing images, or re-generate images for your links that do not rely on the Thumbshots database.
Our images are 122x92 pixels, and have a black border around them. They stand out better, and are OBVIOUSLY not from the Thumbshots database, but other than that, we dare you to compare!
We are running our images (sometimes mixed with Thumbshots.org) on the following sites:
Origami.net
Pugs.net (mixed site, you can compare side by side)
GreekRow.com
DebtCure.com
AutoPricIT.com
And many others.
Included is a display script, that can be customized to your site. We need your storage directory, and the images will be sent to you in a hashed directory structure for performance. If you use the script, it will fill in the thumbshots from thumbshots.org, and place them in the proper hashed/cache structure. Use of this script, and the hashed-cache is not mandatory, but we strongly recommend it.
Plugin Requirements
We need to have a list of URL's you want imaged, in a flat-file format. Our preferred format is:
LinkID|URL
The image is _NOT_ tied to the ID, but is returned in an MD5 hashed name of the URL string. As long as you don't edit/change the URL, the image will come up, no matter how you reorganize your database. Pretty cool!
Unfortunately, until we can figure out something to automate the process, it requires a human to watch over it, and restart it when it stalls, but the improvement in your directory's look, is well worth it!
Over 1000 images, please talk to us. Our largest run so far has been 700+ images, and that took several hours, and some sites refused to be thumbnailed.
It's up to you to go through your directory and make sure your links are valid, that they are *NOT* redirected (redirected links will show a broken image), and that any images we send back to you match the URL. Because of the Windows-based nature of the thumbnailing process, and funky javascripts, occasionally a site will not be thumbnailed correctly. We'll redo the image, where possible if you send us the URL.
