Community and MyFaves Can't Post

Hi there,
Any reason why this plugin shouldn't work with an install of Community?
i.e. I'd install it into Linkssql, but my user information and authentication comes from Community,

If you think it would be OK, I'll get Paypaling.

Cheers,
Piers

Re: [Piers] Community and MyFaves [In reply to] Can't Post

Unfortunately, it works with links, and uses the Links Users table. Once your user logs in, it should work for them, since the Username is stored in the Links::User table.

It actually wouldn't make any sense to do it any other way. The data the program uses, is Links data. The MyFavLinks.cgi can be called from anywhere, but it won't return community data, only what is in the Links tables.

Community has a ways to go before developing for it makes sense. There are a bunch of things that need cleaned up and fixed up in it, before you can depend on it for global user data, and move any arbitrary tables out of other programs and into it.

I don't see any reason why this couldn't even eventually be a commuity plug in, as a wish list, and draw from different sites (all that would need to be stored was a site name). But until things in community are fixed up, it really doesn't make any sense.

In the next release of any GT programs, the community scripts are going to need the most extensive changes, and backwards compatibility will be problematic at best (just my guess).
